On September 2, a diving support ship near the California Channel Islands National Park caught fire.

It is reported that this is a 75-foot commercial diving vessel, and it is reported that there are 39 people on board. Five crew members were rescued and the five crew members were able to disembark because they were in the main cabin. The remaining 34 passengers were under the deck at the time.
